Photos from Today's Immigration Rallies
 |
Protestors at Harvard Yard |
I spent the better part of this afternoon photographing today's
immigration rallies in Cambridge and Boston. Around 1,000 students assembled in Harvard Yard for an early afternoon rally before setting off for a four-mile march to Boston Common. For 90 minutes, the protestors marched, chanted, clapped, drummed and sang. It was a very good-natured crowd, certainly much more so than the anarchist protests during the 2004 Democratic National Convention. The police seemed to be in a good mood, too, as they joked with some of the protestors and advised the leaders on the best route to the Common.
I photographed the protestors the entire way, as can be seen in my photo gallery that I've uploaded to my Flickr account. I'm just finishing work on a video as well, which I'll post soon. -andy
